We are looking for any Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math organizations or businesses that would like to do an activity at our STEAM night on Thursday September 17 from 5-7 pm. Contact Jen Gaerte at jgaerte@dsdmail.net if interested in helping.

Start Strong with Back to School Night
Back to School Night is Tuesday, August 18 from 5:00 - 6:30pm for Kindergarten through 6th grade families.
Beyond meeting the teacher, use Tuesday night to remove a few first-day unknowns.
Where's my classroom?
Where will I put my backpack?
What does my teacher look like?
Where should I go when I arrive?
Families can also find school and PTA resources during the evening.
Your First-Week Checklist
Before Thursday morning:
Check your myDSD to confirm teacher assignment, complete any surveys, and review any documents which need your approval.
Come to Back to School Night Tuesday and help your student get familiar with their classroom and teacher.
Make a clear after-school plan: where to go, who to meet, and what to do if plans change.
Remember that Thursday AND Friday are 1:30 p.m. early dismissal days.
Keep toys and distracting personal items at home.
Adults: remember your ID anytime you need to enter the building during the school day.
We would like each family to come up with a walking plan if possible to avoid the construction.
Plan a little extra time for arrival and pickup so you can slow down, watch for pedestrians, and drive carefully around the school.
Bookmark Stewart Stars Newsletter | Stewart Elementary for current times, locations, links, and updates.

Whenever possible, we strongly encourage students to walk to and from school rather than being dropped off or picked up by car.
If driving is necessary, please follow these temporary traffic procedures:
All vehicles should enter the school parking lot from the north.
When exiting the parking lot, vehicles must turn south (right turn only). We are unable to accommodate left turns out of the parking lot at this time.
Please avoid making a left turn from Main Street into the school parking lot. Due to the construction, this will be very difficult and may create significant traffic congestion.
If you are driving your student and cannot use the designated traffic pattern, please park on a nearby side street or at the LDS Church south of Chase Lane and walk from there using a safe route.
These temporary restrictions will be in place for Back-to-School Night as well as the first days of school and will continue as needed during construction.
We know these changes may require some extra time and planning, and we greatly appreciate your patience, cooperation, and flexibility. By following these procedures, we can help reduce congestion and, most importantly, ensure that everyone arrives at and leaves school safely.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe!

Teacher assignments are now available on myDSD. All kindergarten students will have Staff 1 or Staff 2 as their teacher until after Kindergarten screening appointments. Students in 3rd and 4th Grade non-immersion will have a homebase teacher of Mrs. Birth, Mrs. Roach or Staff 4. We have been lucky enough to be able to hire another teacher for those grades. We will not know the specific teacher until next week. Stay tuned!
